„The door“
Mixed media on a old GDR door, 2019
1680 x 940 x 40
Before serving as a base for carpentry work, the basis of this piece was originally the front door of an apartment in the GDR. I recognized the potential of this wood and transformed it to a work of art aptly named “the door”.
„Memory board“
Mixed media on chipboard, 2016-2018
1265 x 860 mm / 4ft 2in x 2ft 10in
The basis of what later became memory board previously served as a base over which carpentry
students learned the art of centering. Over several years, hundreds of students practiced glueing
veneer over the wooden surface, during which drops of glue gradually built up on the board below.

„Celestial“
Mixed media on chip board, 2015
1190 x 570mm
This piece was also built on the basis of a wooden board recycled from a carpentry, where it had
received a few paint splatters. I worked primarily with oil paints and paint thinner to achieve an
airy, celestial effect.
„Yellow“
two component polyurethane-acryl on hardboard, 2019 | 1370 x 780
Framed in ash wood | 1400 x 810
Through gradual mixing of a single color, this piece was borne through a build up of various shades
of yellow. The simple color composition ensures that the more subtle structures in this piece do not
go unnoticed.
Framed it in a self made solid wood shadow box frame in ash.
„Droplets“
Mixed media on hardboard, 2017 | 1400 x 665
framed in ash wood, white washed| 1460 x 725
This piece is defined by the two different worlds seen on each side of the painting. One through water, with blurry contours and colors that flow into each other, the other above the surface with defined colors and contrast. The complementary effects were achieved by using the same materials - oil, ac

Mixed media on wood, 2015
970 x 340mm
This piece originated in a carpentry, where it was used in in the lacquering process. Colors were mixed and lacquering materials were cleaned on this surface. I recycled the board, brought it to completion with a mix of acrylic and oil paints.
Profile
My abstract paintings are made using recycled materials; leftover pigments and wood from my work as a master carpenter.
Using various techniques, I apply varnishes and other leftover supplies on wooden boards that have developed a certain patina after many years’ use in the carpentry. Each piece receives a frame made of local wood left over from the most recent carpentry project.
I aim to produce sustainable, thought provoking art that encourages the imagination of the observer. To allow the observer an autonomous and individual interpretation, I often leave my work untitled.
